Roma Vayspapir, a famous Russian double bassist, received his musical education from the Leningrad Conservatory. At the age of 19 Roma was hired by the Leningrad Philharmonic. After playing there for many years, Roma became principal double bass.
In 1980 Roma, together with his family, left Russia and came to live in the USA. Today, he is frequently soloing and teaching at universities in addition to being principal bassist in the Spokane, Washington Symphony.
