Greetings!
In this issue of CLEF Notes, we'll address some topics that you'll want to consider as school ends. As the summer rapidly approaches, we want to remind you of some very important things:
- Instrument Care. NEVER leave your instrument in the car for even a few minutes. The interior of a vehicle becomes like an oven in just a few minutes of summer heat. Damage to instruments is very likely when left in a hot space. Also, after school is out, it's a great time
to have your instrument adjusted (bridge, sound post, new strings, bow rehair) and have it in top-notch playability. Don't wait until the summer is over!
- Continue to practice! Just because it's summer does not mean you should skip your music homework! Practice regularly all summer long and you'll make 3 months of progress toward the next school year.
- Private lessons. The summer is a great time to begin private lessons. Acquiring a
great private string teacher is essential to making yourself a better player. Most violin shops will have listings of local area teachers. Check out K.C. Strings' professional private teaching staff! Violin, viola, cello, bass and music theory: kcstrings.com/lessons - Music Camps! Music camps are a great way to further
your education - learn while having fun! There are numerous national music camps. Some of the local camps are held at UCM (Warrensburg), KU, Ottawa (Suzuki camp) MU, and UMKC. K.C. Strings offers two, week-long camps each July.
